Pumpkin Patch!

Today the Holthe family spent the day at the Scarecrow Pumpkin Patch in St. Libory, NE.  We had a great time looking at the animals, sliding down slides, and picking out our pumpkins!

Busy, busy, busy!

I just realized that my last update was before I started school!  I can't believe how fast time is flying.  We have been BUSY in the Holthe house.  Here's a few of the things we have been up to since summer.

Of course, we had to get one more trip in to the zoo.  We met Jonie and Brayden there, then had lunch together after seeing the animals.

I started a new job working for ESU 9, which is in Hastings, NE.  I am serving students in Clay Center and Sandy Creek Elementary Schools.  I have been learning a lot and really like it!

I'm not the only one who has started school this year!  Luke is attending Little Blessings Preschool on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  He loves it!  His daily report includes what he had for snack and if they were able to play outside.  I can't believe he's old enough for preschool!

Luke has also been busy playing soccer!  Since he is only 3, Matt and I had to coach his team.  If I do say so myself, we didn't do too bad!  Most of the time our team went the right direction and didn't touch the ball with their hands.  We had a lot of fun, and had a good group of kids on our team.

On Wednesdays, Luke and I attend SPARK - the Wednesday night education at our church.  He is in the preschool class and I am teaching the 1st & 2nd grade class.  Luke and I enjoy eating supper together, then singing songs before class.

Rachel continues to grow like crazy!  She is now 18 months old and is keeping us on our toes!  She is running and talking like crazy.  Her most recent accomplishment is crawling down the stairs.  She has such a fun personality and is usually smiling!

more summer fun

Here are just a few more extra pictures of our super cute kids!

Mr. and Mrs. Krings!

My brother got married on July 23rd!  We are so happy for him and absolutely love Kelly!  It was a great weekend.

Rachel is walking

Rachel finally decided to walk on her own over 4th of July weekend, and has not stopped!!  She's getting really fast and loves following Luke around.  She is really good at sneaking away and getting into stuff she's not supposed to. :)  Life just got a lot more interesting!

Do we like Green Eggs and Ham??

Luke will eat green eggs and ham!  He will eat them at the table!

Rachel will NOT eat green eggs and ham.  She will NOT eat them in her chair, she will put them in her hair!

One of Luke's new favorite books is Green Eggs and Ham, which he requested for lunch today!

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July weekend!  We started the weekend off with a Chances R fried chicken picnic and movie night on Friday.  We watched Toy Story 3, which most of us loved!  Rachel had no interest in the movie, she just wanted to crawl around the couch and be where everyone else was. :)

Saturday was the perfect day for a BBQ!  We had the Brodine and Jakub families at our house.  The kids had a great time playing outside while the guys reminisced about the old college days.  Luke was disappointed that none of these engineers knew how to drive a train. :)

Sunday was a nice lazy morning at home.  After naps for everyone, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Holthe's house for supper.  We tried to light some of our own fireworks, but the kids didn't like it.  After supper, we came back to our house to watch the York fireworks show from our deck.  It was a beautiful night, with beautiful fireworks - and a delicious ice cream cake for dessert!

Monday was another busy day!  The girls checked out the craft show in Seward, where I found lots of goodies to decorate the house.  The guys golfed.  After that, we all grilled at Grandma and Grandpa's house again.  We ended our weekend with late naps and lounging around the house.  It was such a fun weekend!  We are not prepared for the week to start!  Luckily it's a short one. :)

Water fun!

Now that I am finally all caught up on posts of our busy lives, here are some pictures of our fun afternoon in our backyard!

Cutest ring bearer ever!!

Luke got to be ring bearer in my cousin, Megan's wedding on June 11.  He did a great job, and looked super cute in his little tux!  What a fun weekend!

The next day was Luke's 3rd birthday!  We celebrated with coffee cake for breakfast at Great Grandpa's house.  After that we stopped at the Henry Doorly Zoo for the afternoon.

Luke is 3!!

Wow, where is the time going??  Luke is 3 years old!!  He's a pretty cool little guy, and we have so much fun with him. :)  My next cake creation was a train with 3 train cars and a caboose.  It took a LONG time, but was so worth it because he loved it!  Once again, we had a great birthday party surrounded by friends and family!

Summer vacation!!

Yay!!!  School's out for summer!!!  I couldn't be more excited to spend the summer at home with Luke and Rachel.  So far, we have had a great time together.  Here are a few pictures of our daily activities.  Even though it looks like Luke watches TV all the time, he doesn't.  It's the only way I can sneak a picture of him!

May, 2011

I'm going to lump all May activities into 1 post.  It was a busy month for us, including my Grandma's funeral, a fun trip to KC to visit friends, and a date in Lincoln to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary!!  There were lots of fun times playing together as a family as well. :)  Here are a few pictures of the family throughout the month.

Choo Choo Soul!

In April, we got to attend a Choo Choo Soul concert at the Lied Center! It was so much fun! The kids danced the whole time.

Easter

For Easter, we hosted Matt's family for lunch on Saturday.  Becky, Paul, Julia, and Garrison came as well as Grandma and Grandpa Holthe.  We had a great time eating, talking, and dancing to the Wii!

On Easter morning, the kids discovered the Easter bunny came to visit.  He left some good stuff!  We also had fun hunting for the Easter eggs.  My family came for lunch and some fun time playing outside with Clay (the dog).  What a great weekend!!

Rachel is 1!!!

On March 26, we had a birthday party for Rachel!  It was a great day surrounded by friends and family celebrating.  Despite only being in our house for 2 weeks before, it at least looked good enough for a party.  We love the extra bedroom in the basement that seems to be the "I don't know what to do with this" room.

I made my first attempt at creating a birthday cake.  I decided to do a simple ladybug.  After one mishap with the body, and a close call with the second batch, it actually turned out pretty cute!  What a great day!!

It has been such a fast year!  I can't believe Rachel is already 1.  She is such a big girl and is developing such a fun personality.  We love everyday with both kids! :)

Our new house!

On March 11, we FINALLY closed on our new house!  The moving truck was waiting for us when we got back from the bank.  We watched them unload all our things into the house, then the fun began!  We started in opening up all the boxes.  The kids were excited to see what toys the movers brought back.

It was a crazy weekend because that night my Mom, Rachel, and I drove to Red Oak to host a bridal shower for my cousin Megan the next morning.  It was so much fun, but we made it a quick trip so we could get back to more unpacking and spending the first night in our new house!

Three weeks later, we have made it through every box and have put most things away.  It is looking more and more like our home each day!  We are anxiously awaiting our new furniture.  We are also anxiously waiting for the weather to warm up!  We have a great slide in our backyard and a place for our swing - now we just need the weather to cooperate so we can get out there and use it.  Here are some pictures of our first 3 weeks in our new house!

Living with Grandma and Grandpa!

We lived with Grandma and Grandpa Holthe for about 2 months while waiting to close on our new house.  Here are a few pictures from our time there.

We're not in Kansas anymore.......

The Holthe's officially live in York, Nebraska now!  On January 10th the packers came and put all our stuff in boxes.  On the 12th, the movers put everything on a "big rig" and took it to Nebraska.  We are living with Matt's parents right now until we can close on our new house!  Here's some pictures of our Kansas house as we packed everything up.

Rachel's tubes

Rachel had to get tubes in her ears on January 7th. Here is a picture of her at the surgery center right before the procedure. She did great, and so far the tubes are helping!!

Catching Up... Again!

Well, the Holthe's have had a lot going on in the last couple months!  Let me catch you up.....

We spent Thanksgiving in Fullerton with both sets of Grandparents.

We had our very first Christmas in Kansas City this year.  The Krings family came the weekend before to celebrate.  There wasn't enough room under our small tree for all the presents!!  It was a fun weekend!

Our next Christmas adventures took us to Red Oak, Iowa to spend a couple days with my Grandma, Grandpa, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  We had lunch on Christmas Eve with my family, then headed out again to Minnesota to Matt's Grandma's house.  We spent Christmas Day in Minnesota.  The next day we drove to Brookings, South Dakota to spend time with more of Matt's cousins.  After a quick stop there, we made it back to York and finally back to Kansas City.  It was a lot of driving, but we had a great time seeing all our family!

During all this time, we discovered a job opening at Nebraska Public Power District in York, NE.  So, Matt interviewed for this job and accepted an offer right before Christmas!  So, after we got back from our Christmas trip, the next 2 weeks were spent getting our house ready to sell and our stuff ready to move!
